- The Launchpad/Hangar scene has been merged with the VIP Eagle scene to reduce the compressed file size of the VR project.
- Removed the Moon Buggy from the Rescue Eagle scene.
- Removed the outward facing door numbers on the exterior of all Eagle Transporter sliding doors.
- Removed Heuer Clipboard from the Travel Tube.
- Removed coloured wall panel options from the Travel Tube.
- Removed the Travel Tube from the Corridor set.
- Added a new scene that includes the existing Travel Tube, new Airlock, and new Eagle Passenger Pod interior.

Known issues:
- In the Diorama scene, if the Main Mission and Corridor sets are not immediately activated in the menu, they will not be visible when you try to activate them at a later stage.
- If Gravity strength is set to “Earth” in the Diorama scene, the various Scanners will fall through the Launchpad when their position is reset.
- Reflection probes in the Eagle Passenger Pod scene cause minor reflection artefacts on some surfaces.
- Beyond about 25m from the camera, the VIP Eagle scene has visually conflicting shadows where the static wall of the elevator shaft casts a shadow on dynamic objects such as the elevator floor and the Eagle Transporter.
- In the VIP Eagle scene, your virtual head location will cause unintended movement if you move your real head over uneven virtual ground. This is a side effect of the requirement for dynamic objects to react properly to the moving Launchpad Elevator.

hiya, hope things are progressing well, it looks from your previous screen shots that the rear door in the passenger pod will remain open. I like that as it provides an uninterrupted walk through which keeps up the realism of being on an actual Eagle.  Just wondered if the front viewports will be showing the moon are the stars? And can I ask if there is a problem with the eagle transporter.com where you showed renders of the passenger pod as I’m unable to log in and view any updates you may have put on that site, it just displays a message saying that I am not authorised to log in, but I have a site login code… I just wondered if the site is now non functional… Anyway thank you again for your truly stunning work. Kind regards Richard

Hi Richard, yes the door to the rear storage room will be open in the new scene that features the X5-Computer wall. I had planned to include the Eagle cockpit as well but that isn’t ready so I’m going to leave the cockpit door closed and upload my next update sooner rather than much later. Once this update is out the door I’ll work on the cockpit so that I can add it to the X5-Computer wall scene in a subsequent update. My plan is to show the usual star field when looking out of the front viewports.

It’s funny that you mention the Eagle Transporter forum. Just yesterday, I was going to post a 360° panorama of the X5-Computer wall to that forum and I ran into the same error. I don’t know who is administering that forum but they have been pretty non-responsive in the past when I tried to get them to take down some spam posts. I hope the current issue gets resolved soon though. In the mean time, here is a link to the 360° panorama that I was going to post yesterday…

thank you for the link, that’s amazing. And I like the main doors being shut as it gives the impression of being in flight.

Thanks again

Richard

These Space:1999 VR update emails are my favorite ones to get. Thanks for a 13th time making me feel like I'm a 5 year old again. Aw hell, the 50 year old me loves Moonbase Alpha just as much. Did you get the new technical manual yet? It's incredible!

Oh yes! The Technical manual made it to Australia last week.

I’m so impressed with the vast amount of content that Chris has been able to make for it. As I look through the pages I can’t help but think “Ooh, I want to try modeling that, and that, and that” :-)

I particularly liked his ‘Cutaway’ illustration style and I had to try the same approach with my 3D model too. I posted some test renders on the Eagle Transporter forum if you want to take a look. It’s probably best to log in to that site so that you can see the higher resolution images…

Hi there - they look fantastic... I may go back in VR tonight and sit in the Eagle again :)

Wow what a great Eagle passenger pod. It really does make me feel as if I’m in the first episode Brakeaway traveling to moonbase alpha along with Commander Koenig. I don’t know if you have in mind at some point doing the computer wall as in the later episodes? And have spacesuits hanging? and the gun racks? But if not I’m grateful for what you have given us. Thank you again for sharing all you hard work.

Kindest regards Richard

Hi Richard, you are right in that there is a lot of cool stuff that can be added to the Passenger Pod from later on in the season. From the very beginning I planned to do two versions of that interior so yes I’ll be creating a version that includes the computer wall and gun racks but the spacesuits are a bit beyond me. I know that it’s not the same but you can always turn on those screen captures and get a feel for the spacesuits as they hung in those locker bays.

It’ll be interesting to see how claustrophobic the addition of that computer wall makes the rest of the Passenger Pod feel :-)

I understand about the spacesuits. I’m totally amazed by what you have already accomplished, out of all the VR experiences I have seen yours is by far the most impressive. I always look forward to seeing what new wonders you have created. The quality and accuracy is staggering and gives a total feeling of being on a real moonbase alpha.

All the best for this new year

Richard
